Short Bio
Dr. Vrontakis has been a member of Pierce-The American College of Greece since 1998 and has taught Mathematics for secondary education (7th to 12th grade).
From 2013 to 2018 he was also a faculty member at Deree-The American College, and has taught across the mathematics area curriculum. He served as Head of the Department of Mathematics at Pierce, from 2006 to 2015. From 2015 he served as Deputy Director of the Lyceum, from 2016 as IB DP Vice Director and from 2017 he serves as the IB DP Director/Coordinator.
Dr. Vrontakis has presented papers in various conferences, workshops and congresses, and has published his scientific work in numerous proceedings in Greece as well as in international scientific magazines. He has been a member of Organizational and Scientific Committees in many congresses and a reviewer in scientific journals. He is an active member of “Hellenic Mathematical Society” and of “American Mathematical Society”. He was awarded a graduate fellowship by the Greek State Scholarship Foundation (I.K.Y.), for a PhD dissertation in Pure Mathematics. He participated the research program “Konstantinos Karatheodory” at the University of Patras from 2001 to 2003. He was an instructor for in-service training for the new Math textbooks of Gymnasium, by the Greek Ministry of Education (September 2007). Dr. Vrontakis has been certified by the Greek Ministry of Education (December 2013), for the use of digital tools in teaching process (levels A, B).
Finally, he was actively involved as a special expert in the mathematics’ syllabus for the last class of Lyceum (12th grade), by the Greek Ministry of Education, October 2014 – January 2015. He currently teaches Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (Higher Level) at International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.
