ACG took part in the world’s biggest climate change relay, “
Running Out of Time.” Thousands of runners, cyclists and sailors have been racing in a record-breaking 7,767 km non-stop relay from Glasgow, Scotland, to Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The relay will last 38 days and nights and its purpose is to deliver a message on climate action to the world’s leaders at COP27.
On Thursday, October 27, 2022, the baton reached Aghia Paraskevi and was handed-in to ACG runners, who covered 3 relay routes: a. Aghia Paraskevi to the Panathenaic Stadium (Kaimaramaron), b. Kalimarmaron to Acropolis, c. Acropolis to Flisvos, where the baton was sailed for Cyprus.
Amongst the runners were members of the ACG 150 family: Constantinos Papadias, Athanasios Krystallis, Constantinos Filis, Flora Leventis, representatives of the Office of Admissions: Maria Papagrigoraki, Katerina Gaki and students.
The Center of Excellence in Sustainability, in collaboration with the Municipality of Aghia Paraskevi, organized a Happening at the central square of Aghia Paraskevi at Mesogeion, on Thursday, October 27, 13:30, which included an action to collect messages and raise the voice of the public towards climate action as well as a 'kids relay' addressed to primary school children. The Event was actively supported by the student societies of Environmental Studies and Biomedical Sciences Programs.
The "Running Out of Time" relay is organized by the World Relay Ltd. in Greece, the event is being coordinated by The Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSNP), Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) national member.
Posters of the Kids Relay and the Happening at Aghia Paraskevi square have been prepared by students of the Graphic Design Program of the Francis Rich School of Fine and Performing Arts.
