ACG participated in the Holistic Symposium of ARISTEiA-Institute for the Advancement of Research & Education in Arts, Sciences & Technology, U.S., which was organized in collaboration with the Committee for the Restoration of Northern Euboea and the association ‘Diazoma’ on December 20, in Aidipsos, Euboea. The topic of the Symposium was ‘Restarting after an Environmental Disaster’. The Symposium hosted politicians, academics, representatives of organizations and institutions active in the area that suffered much destruction in the wildfires of summer ‘21. Dr. Stella Apostolaki, Assistant Professor and Executive Director of the Center of Excellence in Sustainability (CoES), ACG moderated the panel discussion “Searching for environmentally friendly solutions to address the agricultural and energy challenges of the 21^st century”. The Dean of School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Prof. Helena Maragou, attended the Symposium.

The Symposium was organized within the framework of the 1st Interdisciplinary School for Environmental Crisis organized by ARISTEiA on 17 – 22 December 2022. Six intensive days full of science, education, career advice and passion for understanding how life and the ecosystem work. 30 undergraduate and graduate students from around the world attended the school.  The ACG graduate and visiting researcher of the CoES, Lydia Papageorgiou-George (University of British Columbia/Universita Degli Studi di Padova) received the Outstanding Performance Distinction on her project ‘Deforestation Consequences to Euboea’.
