Welcome to The American University of Greece (AUG) website!
The incorporation of AUG in Boston, Massachusetts in 2021 brings the story of this remarkable institution full circle. In 1875, women from Boston founded the institution which eventually became known as The American College of Greece (ACG) as a school for girls in Izmir, Turkey. In 1922 the school was destroyed by fire and relocated to Athens, Greece. Today, ACG is the largest, comprehensive, U.S.-based educational institution in Europe, enrolling nearly 8,000 students from more than 70 countries in elementary through graduate school.
The establishment of AUG in Boston represents not only a return to the institution’s origins but also a significant expansion of our institutional vision: To develop the AUG Global Campus and the ACG Athens Campus as a unique comprehensive, U.S.-based, U.S.-accredited, international, education system serving students across the education spectrum, Pre-K through graduate, and across the world.
The AUG Global Campus will offer students in Massachusetts and elsewhere a range of online undergraduate and graduate degree programs that combine high quality instruction, state-of-the-art curricula, flexible delivery formats, and affordable tuition.
The AUG Global Campus will also serve as a base for academic program and study abroad partnerships with select U.S. colleges and universities (the ACG Athens Campus hosts over 1,000 U.S. students from over 200 U.S. colleges and universities annually) and as the U.S. accredited (New England Commission of Higher Education – NECHE) and Massachusetts authorized (Massachusetts Board of Higher Education – MBHE) degree awarding institution for undergraduate and graduate studies completed at the ACG Athens Campus.
We invite you to explore and consider the enriching opportunities offered through AUG and the AUG Global Campus.
